Mum + Baby 5 Week Course – LAST CHANCE FOR 2016!

Motherhood is an exciting time, but can leave us feeling tired and low on energy. As new mums, we can often feel weak in areas that were previously strong and we ache in areas we find difficult to relax.

This course is a wonderfully gentle way to establish a regular yoga practice, and will arm you with the awareness and confidence in your body to attend a general yoga class. In each class we focus on:

  • Reconnecting with the pelvic floor
  • Building strength and tone in the abdomen and lower back
  • Postures to relieve tension in the upper body
  • Modifications to common yoga poses
  • Breathwork and relaxation techniques to calm the nervous system and relieve stress.

No yoga experience is necessary. Classes are suitable for babies from the age of 8 weeks to pre-crawling.

Yes! Sometimes your baby will cry during class, and that's ok! You are encouraged to breastfeed, change, cuddle and comfort baby when needed, but we also understand that sometimes babies (and mums too) are just having a shitty day, and need to have a cry. Go for it babies. You and your mum are in a safe and supportive environment. 

When: Wednesdays starting November 9, 11.30-12.30 pm, for five weeks.

Where: Illuminate Yoga Studio, 59 Mollison Street, Kyneton. Feel free to bring your pram into the studio, but please take your shoes off.

Places are strictly limited to 8 students, ensuring you get the most out of your practice. Bookings are essential, and can be made here. This is the last course I will be running in 2016, so get in quick to avoid disappointment!

Postnatal Yoga Workshop 2: Relax, Refresh and Renew

Book the babysitter for this one ladies! Lucy welcomes you to this two part series focussing on nurturing woman during the birthing years – from mums who have recently given birth to those with school-aged children, this is for you! 

This two-part series will focus on a series of postures, breathing exercises and relaxation techniques designed just for mums. You will bring awareness to the subtle energies of your own body, connect with that damn pelvic floor and realise the strength that you already carry within. 

Each workshop will work through traditional yoga postures as well as modifications to get the most out of your yoga practice, whether at home or in a public yoga class. 

Workshop 1: Stretch, Stabilise and Strengthen

Postures and flow sequences designed to open those particularly tight areas (how are those toddler carrying shoulders of yours?) and getting your buff back. We will work on the areas that are commonly tight for women of young children, while focussing on the stability of areas that are commonly weakened as a result of pregnancy and birth. 

Workshop 2: Relax, Renew and Refresh

Postures and flow sequences designed to soften the body, nourish the muscles and the mind. We will get thoroughly involved with the props as well as go through various alternatives that can be used at home. While we do take the time to completely sink into the luscious yoga cave, we also work on techniques to find ourselves in that zone when we are surrounded by the noisy chaos of home home life.

Both workshops include a yoga asana flow practice, restorative poses and a luscious guided relaxation. No experience is necessary, however bookings are essential as places are strictly limited.

Lucy has been running post natal Mum + Baby workshops in Kyneton since 2014, emphasising the importance of slowing down and finding your strength within. This often means that Babies outgrow the classes well before Mums are ready to leave, so these workshops have been created to allow the space for mums to continue that nurturing! 

When: Saturday 4 June, 1-3 pm

Cost: $35 per workshop ($30 concession) / $65 for the pair ($55 concession)
